The Four Cs and Your Perfect Diamond
Find the finest certified diamonds with the Central Diamond Center, the Dallas Jeweler you can trust in your purchase of certified diamonds.
There are many ways of describing your perfect certified diamond: bright, sparkling, beautiful, breathtaking... but you may also want to know the characteristics that experts look for to determine that elusive quality called rarity.
Commonly, these are referred to as the Four Cs of a diamond. Industry professional have made a lifelong study of them so that you don't have to do so. We include them here so that you can have an informed overview of the Four Cs and feel confident with your purchase of a certified diamond from Central Diamond Center.
Color
Most certified diamonds appear colorless, with many subtle differences in shade. The closer a diamond is to having no color at all (colorless), the rarer and more valuable it becomes.

Cut
A diamond cut to proper proportions allows the greatest amount of light return to the eye, thus showing the inner beauty that remained hidden prior to cutting and polishing.
It takes a skilled cutter to release the latent beauty found in gem-quality diamond crystals; those that cut 1 carat diamonds must apprentice as long as ten years before being allowed to make the cutting attempt!

Clarity
The grading assigned based on the type, size and relative placement of inclusions (which some incorrectly call imperfections) in a diamond. A truly flawless diamond is extremely rare and highly prized and valued in the gem world.

Certified Diamond Carat Weight
A carat is a measure of weight, which can indicate the size of a diamond. The larger the diamond, the rarer it becomes; when factored in with the other Cs described, a larger diamond is a find indeed! A Carat - which is equal to 1/5 of a gram - is subdivided into 100 units called points.
